Scary Movie 4
Clint Morris says, Cindy finds out the house she lives in is haunted by a little boy and goes on a quest to find out who killed him and why. Also, Alien "Tr-iPods" are invading the world and she has to uncover the secret in order to stop them. It's a poor attempt at another chain in the Scary Movie franchise which is quickly becoming Scarily boring.
Firewall
Dean C. Galanis has this to say about this movie. Average thriller stars Ford as a bank security man who's forced to help rob his own bank when his wife and family are taken hostage by nefarious Bettany and his goons. Ford does a good job playing this Everyman, someone not proficient in fisticuffs or firearms (no Indiana Jones or Jack Ryan, he), and his charm and vulnerability (and toughness, when needed) earn the audience's sympathy and rooting interest. In addition, there are some suspenseful sequences, and the supporting cast is excellent, helping to make this sometimes lethargic pill go down a little easier. Still, did it have to be THIS formulaic? There's truly nothing here you haven't seen a million times before, and the script holds no real surprises. Overall, a reasonably entertaining if disposable popcorn flick.
Fantastic Four
Justin Hallman has this to say about this movie. The cast of Fantastic Four - at best - approaches their roles with a stiffness that, to some extent, is forgivable. Unlike Superman or Spiderman, where the focus is on the character and persona behind the superhero, the individuals in Fantastic Four are secondary to the whole group. The special effects are solid, if not extraordinary or groundbreaking. This sets the tone for the entire film: a fun, mindless ride (perfect for a summer blockbuster,) but it wastes the opportunity of turning one of the most cherished and fruitful series in the Marvel canon into something exceptional.
When Do We Eat?
When Do We Eat is similar to My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Jodie Foster's highly underrated Home For The Holidays in tone and spirit. The big laughs are supposed to come because what is intentioned as the "fastest Seder of all time" turns into a long dragged out evening. I felt as though this carried into the experience of watching the film. It seemed to just spin its gears and while some of the jokes were on target, not enough of the punches landed for this to be a knockout, says Scott Standish.
Wedding Crashers
It's a career-defining portrayal for Vaughn, who demonstrates uncanny timing and masterful delivery. To be sure, Wedding Crashers has its rough edges, but they're of little consequence, never interfering with the film's laugh ratio or total enjoyment; it's by far one of the funniest films in years, says David Bleiler.
